TaraElla Asks for Balanced Debate About Drugs

TaraElla, a longstanding supporter of a drug-free lifestyle, has said she does not judge people who use drugs, but wants a more balanced debate about drugs.

"I remain respectful to other people's personal choices. But I don't like to see a serious 'debate' skewed in favour of one side, and I am more than happy to see that changed," she said.

I think we can all agree on that.

Interview with TaraElla August 2013

We have followed you for quite a few years, and we have noticed that you changed and somewhat matured over the years. How do you feel you have changed?
I have definitely changed. I feel as though I see things more clearly now, and have more holistic ideas about the world. I am also a lot less critical of some people and things, I guess. I am still angered by the lack of justice in this world, however.

And how has that influenced your work?
I guess I am less angry in my tone. I was probably never really angry when writing my music, but sometimes my writing was quite angry. I guess I am more about ideas now than feeling dissatisfied about the world.

One thing certainly hasn't changed - it appears you are still as strong a supporter of marriage equality as before.
Yes, that's totally me. I don't waver in supporting justice in the world. And I know it's going to take a long time for most of the world. I promise I will be there to support it all the way.

Now, you're also a supporter of family values. Yet some people who are family values orientated are also your opponents on marriage equality. How do you deal with that?
People have mistaken ideas about all sorts of things. Marriage equality is the ultimate expression of family values, I believe, and I don't care what people say.

About your music now. You used to be quite focussed on doing classical pop ballads for a while. But now you want to diversify. Is that true?
Yes, it's true. People need to explore new stuff all the time. Music is about exploration. I still think ballads are beautiful and I will still be doing some, but I will also be doing other stuff too.

TaraElla Joins Gaga and Kelly Osbourne Fued on Gay Rights

There has been a fued going on between Kelly Osbourne and Lady Gaga for some time now, for those who don't already know. Recently, Kelly has brought the question of gay rights and being a good ally into the fued, accusing Gaga of "feeding on the freaks and geeks" to further her career.

Now TaraElla, another keen ally on gay rights, has put her own perspective on the issue. In her latest article, she wrote that Lady Gaga's main weakness on the gay rights front was that she was "not exactly an example for family values". "The gay rights movement is currently all about family values and family rights for gays. The way Gaga acts reduces her credibility on those issues," TaraElla said.

TaraElla Shared a Great Song with Us

From her blog:

"This week we feature a great sample of what I described above. You Have More Friends Than You Know is a song written by Mervyn Warren and Jeff Marx, for a touring show about It Gets Better, the famous project created to inspire hope for young LGBT people facing difficult times. The show is performed by the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA), and has been touring across the US since 2012."

Here's the song:

I think I like this song!
